View BSNL EVDO towers in Bangalore on Google Maps!

It's been a very long time since we updated you about the network coverage in Bangalore. Now I am here with something really interesting and very helpful for both those who are planning to buy and as well as existing customers. This time it isn't just about the coverage details like which area has the signal and which doesn't.

The data has been gathered from one of the BSNL officer. The data also included the list of location of towers in Bangalore along with the GPS co-ordinates (latitude and longitude) of which made possible for me to mark the locations of the BSNL EVDO enabled towers (Base Terminal Stations) on Google Maps. Yes, you can now look where exactly the BSNL EVDO towers are located in Bangalore with few meters accuracy!

Instructions / Notes to view towers on map:

  • There are 85 EVDO enabled towers all over Bangalore and I've marked them on the Google Maps. Every tower is marked with red pin with the letter "T" on it.

  • The location of all towers have accuracy of few meters.

  • When in "Satellite" (Sat) mode you can see the aerial picture of the tower. Most of the times you see the long shadow casting by the tower on the ground.

  • If you don't see any tower in the marked region it is because the Google hasn't updated the images yet.

  • Don't jump into conclusion that the area is irrelevant because at few places the towers are located few blocks / streets away from the actual area.

  • If at all your area doesn't have any tower, search for the nearby towers and make sure that they are within 6 - 7 KM from your place.

  • Each tower is capable of radiating signals upto 6 - 7 KMs in theory. It depends on the thickness of the environment (buildings and trees).

  • At the bottom of the post there's a list of location of all 85 towers. Refer them if need.

  • Pan and zoom using controls to move around and view the locations of towers on map.

  4. A mutual associate gave me a great recommendation about your site. Glad I clicked on the link! I like how you really scrutinize and get to the bottom line but can you run through that last part again? Just a bit? --Judy

  10. Hello Santosh & all,

Your post was one of the most useful posts which I found a bit late. I currently have bought four different SIM cards for my Apple Ipad 2 from BSNL, AIRTEL, DOCOMO & Vodafone. Undoubtedly, BSNL is so far by & large the best in coverage & speed however there is not one service provider that you can rely on completely at this stage. I don't know if iam unfortunately staying/ browsing from such place but my connectivity woes continue. I primarily use my IPad in two places Home (GKW Layout) & Office Domlur EGL (Koramangala Indiranagar intermediate ring road, almost near the old airport runway). At my home the reception is NILL, at my office I just get one bar signal. Is there any suggestions anyone can provide...? Could it be a problem with my IPad ? I also tested Samsung Tab 2 & the reception is much better but connectivity still remains a problem :( please help if you know anything suggestable
