Finally after more than 2 years, BSNL has officially started advertising their EVDO service on their homepage. Eventually, they start broadcasting commercials on televisions, but before doing that they want to give out hot cakes to their customers and existing users!
After creating a lot of confusion amongst their customers by introducing/changing new tariff structures, now apparently they have come up with a rigid decision with irresistible offer. Before if you had to buy a new connection, you had several options (which were really confusing), but now they have 2 single plan and they are “Post paid” and “Pre-paid”.
Back in Nov 2009, I had posted about the hike in Unlimited plan, where they hiked it to Rs. 999 per month and then in the same month, they withheld the hike. So now I believe that they are going to hike it to Rs. 999 again for sure. But before hiking, BSNL has given out an offer which is like “it’s now or never”.
Can’t wait to read? Here it is:
You can now get a new connection at Rs. 700 per month with Unlimited bandwidth and comes with all India roaming enabled. And what’s more, you even get Rev A device which gives you 3.1 Mbps speed instead of 2.4 Mbps! There is no catch, no nothing. But the deadline is March 31st 2010!
Those who all get the new connection before this date will get all these with no additional costs like extra rental for roaming and change of devices now and then blah blah. Even existing rental users can get benefited with this offer by abandoning their existing device and connection and get it newly once again with the new sophisticated device with mouthwatering tariff structure and whole lot of features at just Rs. 700! Now I guess this is news that everyone would like to hear. So get it while it’s hot!
If you want information on where to buy the device and to know few things before buying, please read this post before you pool-in your hard earned money. If you want to see their promo ad, go here.
BSNL EVDO is biggest mistake of my life............. never ever go for it.
ReplyDeleteI just went to purchase an EVDO here in Chandigarh and the guys at the exchange said it's not available :( ,this is how the government company works :P
ReplyDeleteFew bad reviews bothers....otherwise it really seems good.
ReplyDelete1) What is the charge for the device (evdo card) ?
2) Is there any need to get national roaming configured by exchange people. (was there earlier as per a post I have gone through earlier) ?
3) Is there any difference in the speed if you use it at roaming as compared to the local state?
Many thanks in advance... :)
Don't go to exchange, evdo cards are given sales to CSC(customer service centre) only. In most of the exchange the staff are illiterate or they only know the Land lines wires, nothing else
ReplyDeleteI live in Ayyavoo colony and at the end of my street is the (Arumbakkam) exchange tower, in which Antenna for EV-DO services, is fixed last week.
ReplyDeleteI have asked for the Demo and the marketing people obliged but the maximum D'load speed is 1.0Mbps and U'load is 0.11Mbps.
They have brought only the ZTE AC8700 Datacard which has max 2.4Mbps capacity. They have no answer for the low speed even beneath their tower which I have to search afterwards.
Yesterday, I went to the CSC near Kodambakkam Rly station for new connection. One guy issuing forms said after submitting the form I will be called by phone , then I have to make the payment.Another guy, actually processing and issuing the EV-DO card, said that I will be put in waiting list since the card is out of stock.
Then I returned to the Marketing staff at the Arumbakkam exchange and submitted the form duly filled along with the cheque but asked her (lady staff) to process the form after confirming the available Card is Rev.A compliant.
She obliged and informed me from the same Kodambakkam CSC that the card is available but only the ZTE AC8700 (old Rev.0 compliant). Immediately I have asked her not to process the form(at my request the application has to be billed only after ensuing the Rev.A card availability.)
So, I am planning to go for rental for the first month to avail Rs750 offer, and within this period of first month,
(1) If next supply comes with Rev.A cards, I will purchase that one.
(2) Or if Rev.A card is available in the open market (or with other service providers like Reliance Huawei- EC1260 EC168C - for Rs.2299 only) to get the same and activate it with BSNL EV-DO sim card.
Request for all guys please ensure you are getting only Rev.A compliant data card. They are dumping the old ZTE-AC8700 cards till date. They are not bothered and even don't know about the specification. They know only EV-DO card and 3G card.
Hi
ReplyDeleteI checked this offer in Bangalore at 3 different offices

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI have got EVDO connection this month.
Here I have some observation for the same:
1) It is very good to use as no connection problem at all.
2) Easy to handle and can be used any where in India (if network is exists) without any roaming charges.
I know its download speed is not so good but its good for the people Who really don't need any download frequently.
Thank You.
@Sharath, yes it is an PnP device and can be installed on a netbook. Just transfer the drivers from CD to pen drive and install it.
