Roaming Facility is now available in BSNL EVDO.

As part of the hike in monthly rental, BSNL apparently has decided to give out something more to it's customers. So from today (July 1st 2009), BSNL has now enabled National Roaming facility for this service. This means, you can now use this device anywhere in India where the network and service is available without any extra cost for usage.

To avail this service, you will have to get your device reconfigured at your nearest BSNL Telephone exchange. This information is from a Bangalore user in our forum. If you are living in some other city, please make a query about the reconfiguration for National Roaming facility (be specific about roaming) at your nearest exchange.

Thanks to jameandrew for this information. You can discuss more about this news over here.

  1. Thanks for the update. After BSNL announced it on their website I called up senior BSNL officials to confirm the roaming. I even went to the Exchange at Chandigarh. No one confirmed that national roaming is active. They told me that they have no such information. What a pity !

Moreover I have'nt read a single post on the forum either from EVDO users about roaming being active.

I doubt that BSNL does anything on time, national roaming being no exception. We are at the mercy of the "BABUs"

  3. Dear Sir,

I had bought an EVDO Card from Aathgaon, Guwahati BSNL office on 09.07.2009 bearing No 2036315. The Card has not been activated yet.

After waiting for a considerable time, when I was in Tinsukia on 22nd July 2009, I called up BSNL office at Aathgaon, Guwahati for Activation status wherin I was informed that the card has been activated on 16.07.2009. However, if I make a call on the given number, the message is that the number does not exists. This means that the card has not been activated.

I even called up Mr. S.D.E Mr.K.K Nath on 22nd July on his cell number 9435599103 and he informed me that this card willonly work at Guwahati and not else where in Assam. However when I applied for the card at Aathgaon office, it was clearly said to me that it will work all over Assam. Further to my investigation in your site itself has been given that BSNL has started giving roaming services also even outside Assam since 01.07.2009. So how am I misguided.

Please help me out in the matter otherwise I would have to pay the rent for the services which I am not getting at all.

    Thanks & Regards
    Ritesh Agarwal

  5. I am the Secretary General of NEBCA, A north East based NGO and am fighting for EVDO Service In North East since beginning of 2008 with the BSNL Authorities. In thsi regards, I have received letter from BSNL Assam Circle that the service will be launched in all the dist HQs. by 31st March 2009 but to my surprised it is not done. When contacted in person, I was assured to lunched by end of July 2009 but again they failed to their word. So what can you expect from a mighty organization like BSNL any more? The Officers of BSNL has very good understanding with their rival company under the carpet for personal benefit and gain. This has been revealed by one of the top most Oficial to me when contacted in person. So, this is for kind information to all BSNL FAN CLUB that unless and until the top brass of BSNL stop their under carpet relation to their business rivals, there shall not be any proper development in services of BSNL especially in North East region. God Help BSNL..

  12. Hi,
I tried using my Karnataka based EVDO card in Mumbai. It says you have to ping with the remote server to be able to connect. Of course I could not connect as I do not have any idea about the PING thing.

  28. Though the Patna circle promised national roaming for my three year old card, it has never worked out side Patna town. Recently they updated a new login name and password and said it would work outside Bihar.
Checked this week in Delhi and Hyderabad: no luck yet. Wonder if any of you had their EVDO cards working on a roaming mode?

  30. Hi !
I have purchased BSNL Wireless EVDO Device 2 and a half years back and been using it since then in Bangalore. Connection is unlimited. Monthly charge is 550 + tax. All O.K.

    But one doubt :
Now that I am going home for a month, which is in Orissa, what is the procedure to obtain roaming facilities ? Will it be activated automatically? or have to go to the centre and configure? If so then how long will the procedure take ?
