There is a good news for EVDO seekers in the above mentioned cities. BSNL EVDO is now available in Kolkata, Trichy and Durgapur (West Bengal). In Kolkata, only Rajarhat Newtown is EVDO enabled at the moment. While rest of the city has CDMA 1x coverage. Eventually, BSNL will expand EVDO availablity in Kolkata as time passes.
So EVDO seekers in Kolkata must wait a little longer to let BSNL enable EVDO network in your area. If you can't wait, you can get the EVDO device now itself and start using CDMA 1x network which is offering stable 144Kbps in Kolkata. Later when BSNL enables EVDO service in your area, you can get your device reconfigured and start using EVDO network. One of our forum member, Sanipan has started using EVDO device with CDMA 1x network. Go here to read what he says.
We have not yet received any review from users in Trichy and Durgapur, West Bengal . If you avail it, please do write a short review on the service and it̢۪s quality/performance and your user experience and we will appreciate your contribution and publish it here.
Thanks to our forum members for updating us in this thread.
If BSNL starts EVDO service (be it CDMA 1x or EVDO), please kindly inform us in that thread which helps others like it does in this post.
Trichy already has BASL EVDO. I have confirmed from BSNL Regional office in Trichy. Actually i have applied for that. But unfortunately it covers only upto 5 kms from the city center.

ReplyDeleteEVDO is present in karnataka? What all places its available?
ReplyDelete@Ron, right now its available in Bangalore in karnataka. And it's available in Udupi, Manipal and even in Mangalore.. But I guess CDMA 1x network is available. But I am not sure.
ReplyDeleteEVDO is available in Durgapur(WB) however, at present, only 144 kbps connections are being dished out........Rates are an initial investment of Rs. 3188 with monthly rentals of Rs. 250+ 10.5% Service Tax. The speed is ideal for torrents as both surfing and downloading are unlimited. The service is said to be available in only 5 Districts of West Bengal. However, their names cannot be ascertained at present. If you got money to burn, go for Reliance Netconnect...........At night I've seen connections at 263kbps with torrent downloads of 15.6 kbps however the average is around 2 kbps only........
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the Equipment provided doesnot come with any type of warranty or guaranty so there is a chance of being left high and dry........The equipment manufacturer is ZTE of China.......however no one has complained of any defects as of yet..........that could change though........
