Bangalore EVDO users must reconfigure your device to continue using EVDO service.

Most of EVDO users in Bangalore might not be able to use EVDO and is just limited to use CDMA 1x. We thought this might be another EVDO outage in Bangalore. But this is different story. Due to some technical issues, BSNL has now shifted their main EVDO exchange from Whitefield to Telecom Building near Vidhan Soudha. This led them to change the PRL (Preferred Roaming List).

So in order to continue using EVDO (2.4 Mbps) service in Bangalore, users have to get their device reconfigured at their nearest BSNL telephone exchange. Getting your device reconfigured is free and may take few hours (if the person in charge of the duty is busy).

If you are using CDMA 1x (144 Kbps) service, you don’t have to reconfigure your device.

Thanks to our members, jameandrew and shaaradu for sharing the information regarding the change in main exchange and PRL.

If you still have any doubt, please feel free to post a question in this thread.

  5. Hi all
I was using CDMA 1x (144 Kbps) service since last 2 years in Jalahalli. Since last ten days I was not able to conncet my device. I was told by Pennya exchange that some upgradation was going on and after ten days on my third visit to centre. they reconfigured my device to EVDO (2.4 Mbps)without my consent. They asked me that every 1.44 scheme has automatically upgraded to 2.4 plan and u have to opt for that only. It means now there is no 250 plan available. my doubts are (i) whether there is no 250 plan (1.44 mb) avalable for consumers. (2) how BSNL can upgrade 250 plan to 550 without intimation to customers. Kindly clarify. Thanks

  6. @Madhu Chandra: Get your device reconfigured once again. Tell them that you need to get the device reconfigured because of change in main exchange from Whitefield to Vidhan Soudha.

@Manmohan Reddy: You can buy from nearest BSNL telephone exchange. And please do not give ur contact in public. And also please ask your questions in relevant section of forums.

@pankaj: No changes in speed. All I hope is to have less downtime.

@Raj Dwivedi: Even I stay near Jalahalli. They can't do that without your permission to upgrade from 1X to EVDO. But I guess there was no other way than to get your device reconfigured to EVDO to get it working. Since the scheme has been changed, you might also get bills EVDO plan. Try contacting the customer service and explain to them.. if it still won't work, try contacting some higher officials and lodge your complaint.

  14. Hi All,

Yestreday Went and got it updated to new PRL again at Jayanagar Exchange and once got it back, it is still showing working on IX network. Had informed them earlier also on the same they told EVDO and IX is same... He was trying to fool around and when asked why do we need to pay 550 when we are not getting EVDO(1-2 MBPS) he said the cost for IX and EVDO is also same. There were 2 people who said the same.

I got it reconfigured twice at Jayanagar Telephone Exchange Bangalore. They chage teh PRL from Whitefield to Vidhan Soudha. Still it is Showing IX network.

Please also let me know if the tariff for IX and EVDO is the same. I could use EVDO for 15 days only.

    Thanks

But, will I be able to work on the EVDO after I come back to B'lore or I need to reconfigure it again after I come back, please advise...

    Thanks in advance...
