BSNL EVDO now available in Ahmedabad, Patna and few other cities.

As we said earlier, that BSNL is improving this internet service all across the country and covering more cities, now they have EVDO internet services in few major cities.

So here are the new additions:

  • Ahmedabad

  • Patna

  • Kilvelur - TN

  • Nachiyarkoil - TN

  • Karaikal - Puducherry U.T

  • Vasundhra

  • Vaishali Region of Ghaziabad


All credit goes to our forum members who updated us in this thread. And we have updated the coverage list so have look at the coverage now.

Please revise the coverage list, and if your city has EVDO, please register in our forum for free & let us know by posting in this thread.

    hello
    I am from gandhinagar (near by Ahmadabad). I was the first customer of the BSNL EVDO in my city. The day when i went to BSNl office to buy it the man there replied me EVDO! whats that?
    They didn't know even. So i met the branch manager. He given me the my EVDO card 3500 cash. After two days he called me to return that card that they need to do programing with it to activate. After hundreds of my calls he given me it after a week. I was so excited to get it. That day got the speeds 100kbps with orbit downloader and around 65kbps with torrents. This was only for 3 days. :( 3 days from today i m suffering with very slow speeds and discrete pings even i get 4 bars at home don't know what they are doing. hope that they will repair it and i will get my speeds back. BSNL- First pay than pray.

    any one of you have solutions than please inform.

    Kindly made change Karaikal - Kerala to Karaikal - Puducherry U.T. Here is huge internet users nearly 1000 BSNL broadband and 40+ EVDO users. Also add Puducherry - Puducherry U.T (formerly pondicherry) in the list for EV-DO service. Recenlty i tested with my device while travelling to chennai.

    Do you know the news ? Our current EV-DO service are illegal according the below news. What a fun ?

    I don't have any words and got so much angry while reading the news. Reason is technology is must reach every corner in the globe and help to people living. Also happy now BSNL did the job first in our nation. But TTSL asking the same service in 1500/- plus tax. Surely we must support BSNL and co-operate with the service. Today i am going arasavangadu ( a remote village in rural tamilnadu) to testing EV-DO coverage in Shikshayatan school for internet connectivity. But problem is the area not coverd by EV-DO towers. I have few ideas to get EV-DO service here. Wait for my inputs after the mission. Till take care.

    it is not as high speed as landline bsnl broadband.Can any one do apple to apple comprasion.

    Dear Ruchit,

    BSNL says 2mbps i.e. 256 kBps(diff between kbps kBps is 1 kBps = 8 kbps). But i never got more than 300 kbps on my evdo, eventhou i stay near the exchange. The signal strength is very good which indicates 5 bars on my screen. There is nothing to do with ur instrument. Don't try to repair it. To get good speed try one of these. Try to move open space or if u operate it from a room try to move around the room and see that u will get 5 bars. Don't expect good speed as in wired broadband (wired broadband u will get constant speed). Still u r not happy with this try to sell ur evdo as u have purchased it and move to broadband connection. I am having 2 broadband + 1 evdo connection, but before go 4 evdo i chose rented one, wherein one can surrender it after 3 months and bsnl charges 200 bucks as rental. If satisfied one can buy it eventhou he is in rented scheme.

    earlier this EVDO was only limited to the specific City, now can i use is across whole India?, is the same can be compared to the new service launch by TATA & Reliance?

    I have got my evdo on 4th Sep. 2009. before going to bsnl evdo I have enquired to bsnl. Their technical executive told, there will be at least 512 kbps spead instead of 2mbps. But from the day one I never got speed of even 250 kbps. And even downloading speed is varieng from 4kbps to 16 kbps only. From day one I realized that going for bsnl evdo is my wrong decision. Before going for bsnl plz get review from users not from bsnl guys. I have taken it on rent and waiting for the comletion of three months to surrender it.
    I am using it at Thaltej ahmedabad. It never connected to evdo signal. It always connected to 1x signels.
    It will be better to go for wired broadband even 64kbps would be much better than it.

    I am working in Karaikal, Pondichery UT. I wish to take an EVDO connection. But am staying in Thirunellar 4km from EVDO tower. Pls give feed back about EVDO it is worthy or not, what is the maximum range of each evdo tower?
